Sync your WooCommerce car inventory to MotorHangar

MotorHangar for WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin that publishes the cars you already sell in your store and keeps every listing up to date: new cars, price changes, sold and withdrawn cars. You keep managing your stock in WooCommerce, and nothing on MotorHangar ever writes back to your store.

How it works

  1. Download the plugin and install it from Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. It needs WooCommerce 7.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.

  2. In your MotorHangar dealer panel, open API keys and create a key. It starts with mh_ and is shown only once.

  3. Go to WooCommerce → MotorHangar, paste the key, save and click Test connection.

  4. Choose the market, which products to publish (the ticked ones, one category, or every published product) and where brand, model, year and the rest come from.

  5. Click Sync now, or wait for the daily sync.

What syncs

  • Price: the active WooCommerce price, including the sale price while a sale is on
  • Photos: the featured image, then the gallery, up to 10
  • Description: the short description, or the long one when it is empty, as plain text
  • Brand, model, year, version, mileage, fuel, transmission, colour, condition and city, each from a product attribute, a custom field or the MotorHangar box on the product
  • Out of stock: marked as sold, withdrawn or left alone, as you choose
  • Unpublished, trashed or deleted products: withdrawn

Limitations

  • Beta: built and tested, not yet proven on a dealer's live store.
  • One store publishes in one market.
  • Brand and model must exist in the MotorHangar catalog. A car without brand, model, year or price is reported on the product, never guessed.
  • It is downloaded from MotorHangar; it is not in the WordPress.org plugin directory.

Questions about WooCommerce

Do my cars need product attributes?

Not necessarily. Each field can come from a product attribute (global or custom), a custom field (meta key) or the MotorHangar box the plugin adds to the product. Use whatever your store already has.

What happens when a car goes out of stock?

By default it is marked as sold on MotorHangar. You can choose to withdraw it instead, or to leave it alone. When it is back in stock it is published again.

Does the plugin change anything in my store?

No. Changes travel one way, from WooCommerce to MotorHangar. The plugin adds its settings page, a MotorHangar box and a status column on products, and it never calls the API while you save: the work runs in the background through Action Scheduler.

Could a sync mark all my cars as sold by mistake?

No. A store that returns no cars never marks anything as sold, and if a change would mark more than 40% of your listings as sold at once, MotorHangar refuses and the plugin asks you to confirm.

Is any data about my customers sent?

No. Only the cars you choose to publish are sent, with the public URLs of their photos. No customer or order data leaves your store.
