Inventory sources Beta

List your Shopify car inventory on MotorHangar

There is no Shopify app to install. You connect your store from the MotorHangar dealer panel with two things every Shopify store already has: product webhooks, which tell us when a car is created, changed or deleted, and the store's public product list, which we read once a day to catch anything a webhook missed.

How it works

  1. In your dealer panel, open Connected stores and add your store address (your-store.myshopify.com).

  2. In Shopify, go to Settings → Notifications → Webhooks and create three JSON webhooks — Product creation, Product update and Product deletion — pointing to the address we show you.

  3. Copy the signing secret Shopify shows under the webhooks list and paste it into MotorHangar, so we only accept messages your store signed.

  4. Tag each car with motorhangar and its details: model:RAV4, year:2019, mileage:45000, fuel:petrol, transmission:automatic.

What syncs

  • Only products tagged motorhangar, because the same store may also sell tyres and floor mats
  • Brand: the product's vendor, unless you add a brand: tag
  • Model, year, version, mileage, fuel, transmission, colour, condition and city, from key:value tags
  • Price and photos, from the product
  • No stock in any variant: marked as sold
  • Draft, archived, unpublished or untagged: withdrawn

Limitations

  • Beta: built and tested, not yet proven with a dealer's live store.
  • It is not an app in the Shopify App Store; it works through your store's own webhooks.
  • The daily check reads only products published to the online store, and cannot read a password-protected store.
  • The product title is never parsed: without a model: tag the car is not published, and the panel says why.

Questions about Shopify

Why tags instead of the product title?

Because a title like “Toyota RAV4 2019 XLE” can be read more than one way, and we never guess a car's data. Tags such as model:RAV4 and year:2019 are explicit, and you edit them on the product page in Shopify.

What if a webhook gets lost?

Once a day we read your store's public product list and reconcile. A car that disappeared without a webhook is caught there, with the same guard as the API: a half-read or protected store never marks your whole stock as sold.

Do I have to install anything in Shopify?

No. You create three webhooks in your Shopify admin and paste one secret into MotorHangar. There is no app to install, approve or pay for.

What happens if I disconnect the store?

Updates stop, and your cars stay published until you withdraw them. Disconnecting never takes your stock offline by surprise.
