Automation and API Beta

Outgoing webhooks for new leads, sold cars and sync problems

A webhook is the simplest way to connect MotorHangar to any CRM or automation: we call your URL the moment something happens instead of you asking every few minutes. Each delivery is signed so you can check it came from us, retried if your server is down, and listed in your panel.

How it works

  1. In Webhooks, add your https URL and pick the events; you get a signing secret once.

  2. When an event happens we POST a small JSON document with an id, the event type and its data.

  3. Your server checks the X-MotorHangar-Signature header with the secret and answers 2xx.

  4. If it is down, we retry after 1, 5, 30, 120 and 360 minutes; every delivery shows in your panel.

What syncs

  • lead.created: a buyer wrote about one of your cars, with the link to the conversation
  • vehicle.sold: a car became sold, whether you sold it in the panel, by API, by feed or in your store
  • vehicle.rejected and sync.failed: a car that failed validation, or a feed that could not be read

Limitations

  • New: built and tested, not yet proven with a dealer's live CRM.
  • Buyers' email and phone are never included: they share them in the conversation if they want to.
  • A webhook that fails 20 deliveries in a row is turned off until you send a test from the panel.

Questions about Webhooks

How do I know a webhook really came from MotorHangar?

Every request carries X-MotorHangar-Signature with a timestamp and an HMAC-SHA256 made with your secret. Recompute it over the raw body and reject old timestamps; /developers/ has the code.

Can n8n or Zapier register the webhook on their own?

Yes. POST /webhooks with your API key creates one and returns its secret, and DELETE removes it — the pattern trigger nodes use to subscribe and unsubscribe.

Will I get the same event twice?

Possibly, after a retry. Each delivery carries the event id in X-MotorHangar-Delivery: store it and skip ids you have already processed.
