   A notary can only process the sale if the car owes no motor vehicle tax (MTV), late interest, tax penalties or traffic fines, and has no attachment, lien or other record restricting its sale.

2. Optionally get an expert inspection report (ekspertiz) Empfohlen Verkäufer und Käufer

   An inspection report from a TSE-certified ekspertiz business is required for dealer sales but optional between private individuals. If one is presented, the notary checks the inspection firm's certificate and records the report's date, number and mileage. If none is presented, the contract records the mileage declared by buyer and seller.

3. Open a secure payment (Güvenli Ödeme) transaction Gesetzlich vorgeschrieben

   If any part of the price is paid in cash, by bank transfer or by EFT, it must go through the Güvenli Ödeme Sistemi, which hands over ownership and money at the same moment. A bank loan to the buyer is the only part that can be paid outside it. The seller starts the transaction from their bank, and the system sends a reference number by SMS to both parties.

4. Buyer pays the price into the escrow account Gesetzlich vorgeschrieben Käufer

   The buyer pays the agreed price with the reference number, from their own bank or by FAST. The money is held and cannot pass to the seller until the notary completes the registration. The system's fees are deducted from the amount paid to the seller. If the notary registration is not completed by the end of the next business day, the transaction is cancelled automatically and the money is refunded to the buyer.

5. Sign the sale contract at a notary Gesetzlich vorgeschrieben Verkäufer und Käufer

   Buyer and seller (or their proxies) go to any notary, which draws up the sale contract from the registration certificate or the traffic registry records. The contract includes the vehicle data, the date and time of sale, both parties' names, ID numbers and contact details, and the mileage. Sales not made by a notary are void.

6. Registration in the buyer's name and release of payment Gesetzlich vorgeschrieben Verkäufer und Käufer

   The notary reports the sale to the traffic registry and tax office, and that report registers the car in the buyer's name. The buyer receives a temporary registration document valid for one month, and the new registration certificate is delivered within a month. MTV liability passes from seller to buyer on the date of sale. Once the transfer is registered, the escrowed money goes to the seller.

• Do not accept a bank transfer or EFT outside the Güvenli Ödeme Sistemi. The system exists to stop fraud where money vanishes after signatures are made at the notary. The seller is guaranteed payment once registration happens, and the buyer is guaranteed that nothing is released before it.
• Hand over the car and keys only after the notary has completed the registration.
• The seller can cancel a secure payment transaction until registration is complete, and the buyer's money is then refunded.
