1. Check the car is not under seizure Requerido por ley

   A seized (zarubljeno) vehicle may not be registered, nor its registration certificate extended, until the seizure ends, without the creditor's permission with a certified signature.

2. Sign a sales contract with the buyer Requerido por ley Vendedor y comprador

   Concluding a sales contract (kupoprodajna pogodba) with the buyer is listed as mandatory by eUprava for selling a registered car in Slovenia.

3. Transfer ownership at a registration organisation, together Requerido por ley Vendedor y comprador

   The transfer is done at a registration organisation: an administrative unit (upravna enota), a technical inspection organisation, or a vehicle dealer authorised as a registration organisation. Both parties must be present; either one can do it alone with a certified power of attorney from the other. A registered vehicle can be deregistered because of a change of ownership only if the new owner is entered in the register at the same time.

4. Pay the deregistration fee Requerido por ley

   When ownership changes, a fee for deregistration (taksa za odjavo) is due if the vehicle is registered, or a fee for transfer of ownership if it is not.

5. Claim back the unused annual road levy Recomendado

   After the transfer, the administrative unit refunds the remaining proportional part of the annual vehicle levy (letna dajatev) you already paid.
