Sell your car in North Macedonia

The buyer re-registers the car in their name at a Ministry of Interior (MVR) counter. The key requirement is a sales contract with the person shown on the registration certificate, certified by a notary: without it MVR does not register the change of ownership. Posting on MotorHangar is free and takes about three minutes; you don't need the paperwork to publish.

Step by step

  1. Sign the sales contract and have it certified by a notary Required by law Seller and buyer

MVR requires a contract of sale (or gift or exchange) concluded with the person listed on the registration certificate (сообраќајна дозвола) and certified by a notary, or another document proving the change of ownership such as an inheritance decision.

  2. Get notarised consent if the car is leased, co-owned or sold with retention of title Recommended

A vehicle under a leasing or rental contract, or sold with retention of ownership, can be registered in the user's name only with the owner's written consent certified by a notary. A car owned by two or more people is registered in the name of one of them on the basis of a notarised written agreement.

  3. Buyer applies to MVR to register the car Required by law Buyer

The application is not electronic: it is filed at an MVR counter with the registration certificate, proof of deregistration of the vehicle, the buyer's ID card and the notarised contract, and an administrative fee is paid with a PP50 payment slip. MVR decides within 30 days and issues a registration certificate for the registered vehicle.

50 MKD administrative fee for the application (uslugi.gov.mk); registration certificate 310 MKD (200 form + 110 admin fee, MVR price list)
