Prepare the seller's seal certificate and transfer certificate Requerido por ley
The registered owner (as shown on the vehicle inspection certificate) provides a seal registration certificate (印鑑証明書) issued within the last 3 months and a transfer certificate (譲渡証明書) on the prescribed form stamped with the registered seal (実印). If someone else files on the owner's behalf, add a power of attorney (委任状) stamped with the same seal. If the name or address on the inspection certificate differs from the seal certificate, also bring a resident record (住民票) or family register extract showing the change.

Buyer obtains a parking space certificate from the police Requerido por ley Comprador
Unless the user's address and base of use are unchanged, the buyer needs a parking space certificate (自動車保管場所証明書, 'shako shomei') from the police station with jurisdiction over the parking place. The space must be within 2 km in a straight line of the base of use, and the certificate is accepted for 40 days from issue. Fees are set by each prefecture (for example Shimane: 2,370 yen from April 2026), and some rural areas are exempt.

The new owner also needs a seal registration certificate issued within the last 3 months and their registered seal (or a power of attorney stamped with it if a proxy files). If the new user is different from the new owner, add a document proving the user's address issued within 3 months.
