Steg för steg

1. Hand over BPKB and STNK with a stamped receipt Krävs enligt lag Säljare och köpare

   For a sale, proof of transfer is a purchase receipt with sufficient duty stamp (kuitansi bermeterai) and/or a letter releasing rights (surat pelepasan hak). The buyer will need the original BPKB and STNK to change ownership.

2. Seller blocks the STNK at Samsat Rekommenderat

   After selling, the former owner can ask Samsat where the vehicle is registered to block the STNK data, which prevents renewals in their name, progressive tax on their next car and electronic traffic fines (ETLE) reaching them. Bring a copy of your KTP, a copy of the sale deed and proof of payment, copies of STNK/BPKB and a copy of the family card (Kartu Keluarga).

3. Have the vehicle physically checked (cek fisik) Krävs enligt lag Köpare

   A physical check of the chassis and engine numbers (cek fisik ranmor) is required for both the new BPKB and the STNK change of owner.

4. Apply for a new BPKB in the buyer's name Krävs enligt lag Köpare

   File the application form with ID (KTP), the original BPKB and STNK, proof of transfer, the non-tax state revenue (PNBP) payment receipt and the cek fisik result. A power of attorney with duty stamp is needed if someone else applies; a transfer to another registration region also needs a mutation letter.

5. Update the STNK at Samsat and pay taxes Krävs enligt lag Köpare

   Change the STNK data to the new owner with the form, KTP, STNK, proof of transfer, cek fisik result and BPKB registration receipt. Changing the owner on the STNK is subject to the transfer fee (BBNKB), which depends on the province; in West Java and Jakarta BBNKB is levied only on the first transfer, so not on used cars.
