Vende tu auto en Estonia

The change of owner is registered with Transpordiamet (Estonian Transport Administration), normally in its e-service where the seller starts the transfer and the buyer confirms it with digital signatures. The most important step is completing the registration: until it is done the registered owner stays liable for fines, and an unregistered sale leads to the car being temporarily deleted from the register. Publicar en MotorHangar es gratis y toma unos tres minutos; no necesitas la documentación para publicar.

Paso a paso

  1. Check whether the car can be transferred online Requerido por ley

Vehicles with a prohibition notation (keelumärge), a registered pledge or joint ownership can only be transferred at a Transpordiamet service bureau. A co-owned car cannot be transferred without the other co-owner's written or digitally signed consent.

  2. Start the ownership change in the e-service Requerido por ley

Log in to the Transpordiamet e-service (eteenindus.mnt.ee) with ID card, Mobile-ID, Smart-ID or an EU eID, open 'Toimingud sõidukitega', select the car and press 'OMANIKUVAHETUS'. Enter the buyer's personal identification code (or registry code for a company), check the name shown, and choose who pays the state fee.

  3. Choose 'secure' or 'regular' transfer and sign digitally Requerido por ley Vendedor y comprador

In the secure transfer (turvaline omanikuvahetus) the sales contract is concluded in the e-service with the price, and the car is re-registered only once both parties confirm the car and money have been handed over. The regular transfer is for when the contract was signed outside the e-service. In both cases both parties sign digitally.

  4. Pay the state fee Requerido por ley Vendedor y comprador

The state fee for registering a sale in the e-service is 55 euros, 20% cheaper than at a service bureau; either the seller or the buyer can pay it, as chosen when starting. Since 1 January 2025 a registration fee (registreerimistasu) is also due on the first change of ownership of a passenger car or vehicle up to 3,500 kg if it has not been paid before; it is paid by the person entering the vehicle in the register.

  5. Buyer confirms within 5 days Requerido por ley Comprador

The buyer logs in, reviews the vehicle and signs the contract or confirmation digitally. A started transfer must be completed within 5 days or it is cancelled. If the seller has confirmed but the buyer does not, the car is marked as transferred and temporarily deleted from the register after 5 working days, and may not be driven until the transfer is completed.

  6. If the buyer does not register, file a notification of transfer Recomendado

The registered owner may notify Transpordiamet that the vehicle has been transferred, attaching a document proving the transfer (e.g. sales contract). The new owner must register within five working days; until then the registered owner is held responsible for fines such as parking penalties.
