Vende tu auto en Bolivia

In Bolivia the sale is documented in a minuta or private document with recognized signatures, the municipal transfer tax (IMT, 3%) is paid at the municipality where the car is registered within 10 business days, and the transfer then goes through the notary (testimonio), Tránsito and DIPROVE before the municipality issues the new ownership certificate (CRPVA). Publicar en MotorHangar es gratis y toma unos tres minutos; no necesitas la documentación para publicar.

Paso a paso

  1. Clear municipal debts and liens on the car Requerido por ley

To start the transfer the vehicle must have no outstanding municipal debts of any kind as of the transfer date, no registered liens and no pending procedures at the municipality.

  2. Sign the transfer document with recognized signatures Requerido por ley Vendedor y comprador

Buyer and seller sign a minuta or private document with recognition of signatures (reconocimiento de firmas). The signing date is the taxable event for the transfer tax.

  3. Pay the municipal transfer tax (IMT) within 10 business days Requerido por ley

The IMT is 3% of the price paid or of the vehicle's tax base for the last year, whichever is higher; the taxpayer is the person in whose name the vehicle is registered (the seller). After 10 business days from signing, fines, interest and indexation apply.

3% of the higher of the sale price or the tax base

Decreto Supremo 24054 (Reglamento del IMT), arts. 5-8
  4. Complete the notary, Tránsito and DIPROVE steps Requerido por ley Vendedor y comprador

After the tax is paid, go to a notary to protocolize the document (testimonio), and to the Dirección de Tránsito of the Policía Nacional and DIPROVE (vehicle theft prevention unit).

  5. Finish the transfer at the municipality Requerido por ley Comprador

Present the protocolized testimonio, the transfer resolution and the ownership certificate to the municipality, which issues the Certificado de Registro de Propiedad – Vehículo Automotor (CRPVA) to the new owner. Paying the IMT alone does not consolidate ownership.
