   If the vehicle is pledged to a bank or other institution, the seller must collect and submit the lender's loan-repayment clearance letter.

2. Seller signs form TTO, the sale receipt and a sale affidavit Obrigatório por lei

   The seller signs form 'TTO' and the sale receipt, and gives a sale affidavit with photograph. A company seller provides an intimation on letterhead, board resolution and authorisation letter.

3. Buyer completes forms TO and TTO, affidavit and specimen signature Obrigatório por lei Comprador

   The buyer fills in and signs forms 'TO' and 'TTO' (downloadable from BRTA), swears an affidavit with photo on non-judicial stamp paper, and fills the specimen-signature form with name, father's/husband's name and address in English plus 3 stamp-size colour photos.

4. Pay the ownership transfer fee Obrigatório por lei Comprador

   Pay the BRTA transfer fee and keep the deposit receipt. For cars, jeeps and other non-hire private vehicles the transfer fee is one-third of the registration fee for that vehicle class.

5. Submit the file at the BRTA circle office Obrigatório por lei Comprador

   The buyer lodges the forms, original registration certificate (both copies) or digital registration certificate, affidavits, TIN certificate where required and the fee receipt with BRTA, which records the new owner.
