I was stopped for one minute in a drive-thru, and when I took my foot off the brake to accelerate, the vehicle stalled. It told me "Engine Stopped Power Steering Low". I moved out of the drive-thru in neutral, turned off the car then turned it back on. Everything was okay and had no issues. At the time of the accident, my windshield wipers were on. My eninge's auto stop/start was also on. There was a safety risk because my car stalled out when starting up, causing me to have to turn off the car and turn it back on while stopped. I have not been able to reproduce the problem with my dealer yet. I have not had the vehicle inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives? I did not have any warnings of this incident. I got a "Engine Stopped Power Steering Low" message when the issue occurred.

On 9/06/2026 my 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid was involved in a severe collision where the impact occured on the drivers side at the passenger door. The vehicle spun several times before coming to a stop. During the spins the front passenger door flew opening. My wife was sitting in the passenger seat her seatbelt successfully restrianted her preventing ejection and injury. However the unlatching of a non impacted door under rotational forces represents a catastrophic structural or mechanical latch failure that poses an imminent risk occupant ejection.

STEERING 2026-08-27 · NHTSA 11760067

I own a 2024 Toyota RAV4. At approximately 38,300 miles, an authorized Toyota dealership diagnosed a failed rack-and-pinion/steering rack assembly that required replacement. Before the repair, I began noticing a squeaking noise when turning the steering wheel. The noise became progressively louder over time. The symptoms continued to worsen until the vehicle was inspected by the Toyota dealership. The vehicle has been regularly maintained, and there was no collision or other known event that would explain this failure. The steering rack required replacement only about 2,200 miles beyond Toyota’s 36,000-mile basic warranty. Because the rack-and-pinion assembly is a critical steering component, I am concerned that this may represent a premature failure and potentially a safety issue if similar failures are occurring in other 2024 Toyota RAV4 vehicles. I am submitting this complaint so the issue is documented and can be compared with reports from other owners. I have dealership repair documentation confirming the diagnosis and replacement of the steering rack assembly.

2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited : issues with vehicle detection but not limited to the Blind Spot Monitoring System (BSM) . Complaint includes problems with the vehicle's sensors and electronic control units (ECUs), which is leading to difficulties in detecting other vehicles on the road and posses ongoing safety concerns about the reliability of my vehicle's safety features, particularly when driving my car on freeways and surface streets. Sensor Malfunctions: I continue to have malfunctions with the sensors that are supposed to detect nearby vehicles. I have taken my vehicle into Wilsonville Toyota’s Service Center in [XXX] twice, once in XXX and again in XXX after having at least two near collisions due to the fact that my car did not detect an approaching vehicle. On one occasion my friend ([XXX]) was in my car with me when we almost hit another car when changing lanes on the freeway because my car DID NOT DETECT a vehicle in the lane I was attempting to change. I feel unsafe due to the inconsistent performance of my BSM System Malfunction. I have visited my Toyota dealer for diagnostics and potential software updates but have been told repeatedly that if they, Wilsonville Toyota Service Center (WTSS) cannot reproduce the issue then it does NOT exisit. However, after having and picking up my vehicle from the repair shop at WVTS on XXX I spoke with the acting Assistant Service Manager, Kevin, who stated to me me that if it happens again to return and he will go for a test drive with me to see if I could reproduce the situation so that he could see it and make documentation of it so that it will then be “a thing”. Well I did just that on XXX when my husband , [XXX] , and I returned to WVTS and took Kevin for a test drive where Kevin experienced my exact concerns with the BSM’s Malfunction on more than 4 times on our short test drive. Upon our return from the test drive Kevin immediately offered me a free loaner. BSM INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When using the CarPlay feature I am not able to use the maps. When using the maps the it glitches out and constantly reroutes spastically and feels very unsafe while driving. I looked up if this was a common issue with other 2024 rav4 owners and I learned it is. It was explained as an issue with the antenna not being able to keep up with the location of the phone. This issue has caused me to not be able to use my screen while driving and defeats the whole purpose of having that feature in the car. I tried calling a Toyota dealership to fix the problem but was told I would need to pay 200 dollars just to get the car looked at and being as this is a defect with the vehicle that feels unfair. I appreciate any assistance you can offer to resolve this issue for myself and any others experiencing the same problem.

I purchased a 2024 Toyota RAV4 in March 2024 with the expectation that its advertised safety and driver-assistance systems would function as designed. The vehicle has experienced a failure of the forward camera/ADAS system, resulting in the loss of multiple Toyota Safety Sense features. The following systems are currently unavailable or malfunctioning: • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control / Adaptive Cruise Control • Pre-Collision System • Lane Tracing Assist / Lane Keeping Functions • Road Sign Assist (speed limit recognition) • Related driver-assistance and safety warning functions When cruise control is activated, the vehicle displays a warning that cruise control is unavailable. The dashboard reports multiple safety-system malfunctions. As a result, I have lost essentially all advanced driver-assistance features that were included with the vehicle. Toyota’s dealer diagnosed the failure and Toyota approved the repair under a goodwill case. However, I was informed that the required replacement component is on national backorder with an estimated wait of approximately two months and no guaranteed delivery date. Despite acknowledging the defect and approving repair, Toyota has not provided a comparable loaner vehicle or alternative transportation. I am being asked to continue operating the vehicle for an extended period without the safety technologies that were a significant factor in my purchase decision. I am concerned about the loss of collision-avoidance, lane-assistance, and adaptive-cruise functions, the indefinite repair delay, and the lack of transportation assistance while awaiting parts. I am requesting investigation, assistance, and consideration of repurchase or other appropriate remedies.

The trim around the sunroof is cracked and causing a leak. I took the vehicle to South Hills Toyota in Cannonsburg PA, for maintenance and state inspection, specifically identifying this issue. The car is less than 2 years old still under warranty Initially I was told it was not a material defect and not covered by warranty, remedy would be replacement of entire sunroof. Discussion with the service manager resulted in the defect being escalated to Toyota. Pictures were taken by the Toyota service team and sent to Toyota for further review.

I apologize if this does not meet the NHTSA bar of a safety hazard. It does reduce the ability for hands free navigation and acts as a distraction for drivers. Toyota Rav4s have very poor GPS tracking which makes the directions in the integrated head unit and guage cluster very distracting because they are consistently incorrect. There are dozens, maybe 100+, reports online of people having similar issues. Toyota dealership has looked at it many times, escalated for troubleshooting, and as of today they say there is no fix. I have many videos to demonstrate the issue is not a fluke. There are no warning signs and the GPS will just start giving poor directions. The "danger" is in the fact that the only workaround now is to engage with a phone or other device while driving. In theory a human can rise above this and be smarter than the car but isn't that true of many safety components like non-functioning wipers(drive slow) or blind spot protectiong(check your mirror). The car is giving bad directions that the user is relying on as a navigational aid.

2024 RAV4 XLE Premium will randomly pull to the left or right after start-up, or cold soak, and has been doing so since new. The Dealer has verified that the alignment is correct and there are no mechanical issues. When the vehicle is shut off and restarted, the symptoms will likely change and will often correct itself, but this sometimes changes the direction of the pull. This aligns with the same symptoms as NHTSA MC‑10214321 and Toyota Tech Tip T‑TT‑0616‑20. I have shared this information with the Dealer and they claim to be investigating the possible cause and I am waiting on confirmation of next steps to resolve it. Please update the known NHTSA complaint that has already been issued for Toyota RAV4 model years 2019-2021 to include later model years and including 2024.

After driving my 2024 RAV4 in rain for about an hour, I was then parked for about 5 minutes in a parking garage and the engine shut down and warning light came on for power steering, and white smoke /steam came out of the engine. Engine would not restart, even after tow truck arrived thirty minutes later. Once dealership received my vehicle they say it starts fine and can't find any issues. They have been unable to duplicate the issue. I saw this same issue online and have requested they check the MAF sensor and the battery load test. Seems to be a big issue in these cars.

After driving IN RAIN for about 27 Miles then idling in slow traffic, vehicle started running poorly, stalled and would not run properly. Got "Reduced Engine Power, Visit Your Dealer Message". Engine would start but stall when put in drive. I held up traffic for several minutes. After several minutes of restarting and stalling, I ran engine in park for 2000-3000 rpm for about a minute. The car then ran fine and I drove for over a week before I could get it to the dealer. It seemed to be run fine during this time. Dealer found code P010014, MAF sensor and replaced the sensor. Toyota TSB T-TT-0763-24 appears to describe this issue but it does not appear to have a real resolution for this. It is 'under investigation' Just replacing the sensor, if it is just another one of the same type does not give me confidence that this dangerous condition may not happen again. There are many reports like this one.

Everything working properly and just fine until Monday 3/2/26 when I started the vehicle to go to work, the main radio multimedia screen was black and did not display anything. No sound was playing either along with when I placed the car in reverse, there was not the backup camera display as well. Everything was pitch black. I then proceeded to drive the car to work and then decided to take it to the Toyota dealership near my house at the earliest convenience which was today (3/4/26). In the mean time until I brought the car to the dealership, I researched information and videos on how to diagnose it myself and try troubleshooting my self. Also, when car is running, I got a message stating malfunction with AEB/FCW. Tried the fuse route and tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes and tried holding the main power knob for 30 plus seconds. All of those did not work. I then took into dealership and once I got there, the service technician saw the screen working and then also saw the screen acting up and turned on but had lines in the middle of the screen. The technician had me turn vehicle off and once we turned back on it went back to the black screen. So once I went the route of having them diagnose it, they said they could not duplicate concern that we saw with the lines in the screen etc., therefore the technician gave the vehicle back with the screen not working still until we do have it working with the lines. I was about to leave and then the issue with the screen and lines cam up on the screen and I was able to have the technician look at it and diagnose. That is when advisor came to me and said the radio head is completely not working and cannot be fixed or saved. Repair is $2,769 with labor for a new radio head per the advisor. Car is not under warranty because of how many miles are currently on vehicle so I cannot get this fixed for free under warranty. Would have to be out of pocket and I denied that. The Apple CarPlay/navigation system in our 2024 Toyota RAV4 consistently drifts and displays incorrect vehicle location while driving. Navigation apps (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze) provide inaccurate positioning and incorrect directions. This creates a distraction and unsafe driving condition, particularly for a teenage driver. Additionally, when connected to the vehicle, the iPhone’s GPS location also drifts, preventing accurate real-time location tracking by a parent. Even once disconnected the drifting on the phone navigation continues. The vehicle has been taken to a Toyota dealership multiple times. All software updates have been completed, but the problem persists and appears to have worsened. Toyota has no solve and refuse to put in a new navigation/CarPlay system. This defect has existed since the vehicle was purchased new in 2024.
