Privacy policy
MotorHangar is run by The01Company. This page says what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how you get it deleted. We wrote it to match what the site actually does.
The short version
- You can browse the whole site without an account. Car data pages need nothing from you.
- We don't sell your data and we don't show third-party ads. Today nobody pays to rank a listing higher; if we ever offer that, those listings will be clearly labelled.
- Photos you upload are stripped of their metadata, including GPS location, before they're stored.
- You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, at any time, at /account/delete/.
What we collect
When you just browse
- Your country, worked out once from your IP address with a database stored on our own server, so prices and listings match where you are. The IP address is not stored or sent anywhere for this. The result is saved in a cookie (
pais) for one year; you can change it at any time. - Your language, from your browser or your choice on /languages/.
- Usage statistics through Google Analytics: pages viewed, device type, approximate location and clicks to leave the site.
- Clicks that leave the site (to a seller's original listing, a manufacturer or an official source) and taps on a listing's WhatsApp, call or message buttons. We count them so sellers can see how much interest a car gets; if you're logged in, they're linked to your account.
- Server logs (IP address, page, browser, time), kept for a short period for security and to block abusive bots, then rotated.
When you create an account
- Email address and name. A password if you sign up with email; it is stored as a one-way hash, never in readable form.
- If you sign in with Google: your email address and name from that account. We don't get your password, contacts, posts or friends list.
- What your country's form asks for your account type: phone number, city and postal code, and for dealers the business name, address, tax ID or licence, opening hours and logo.
- What you do in your account: cars saved to your garage and your notes, saved searches and alerts, and messages you exchange with buyers or sellers on MotorHangar.
When you post a car
- The listing details, photos, city, and the phone number you choose to show. A listing is public: anyone can see it, including the phone number if you enable WhatsApp or calls.
- Photos are resized and their metadata (EXIF, including GPS coordinates and camera details) is removed before storage.
- While you're posting, what you've typed and the photos you've added are saved as a draft at each step, so you can finish later. A draft is private: it's linked to your account, or to a cookie (
borrador) in your browser if you're not logged in. If you don't touch it for 30 days, its contents and photos are deleted; we keep only how far it got, without anything that identifies you, to see which steps people find hard.
When you report a listing
The reason and any comment. To count one report per person we keep a one-way fingerprint of your IP address (or of your account), not the address itself.
Why we use it
- To run the service you asked for: your account, your listings, messages, alerts and the garage.
- To show the right market, currency and safety programmes for your country.
- To keep the site safe: spam filters, reports, blocking abusive traffic.
- To understand which pages are useful and fix the ones that aren't (aggregated statistics).
- To send you the emails you asked for: account confirmation, password reset, alerts. Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of providers, each only for what's listed:
- Google: sign-in with Google (if you use it) and Google Analytics.
- Mailgun: delivering our emails to you.
- Our hosting provider: the servers where the site and its database run.
- An error-monitoring service: technical error reports, which do not include form contents, passwords or the query part of page addresses.
We also use an AI translation service to translate the site's interface text into other languages. Your data and your listings are never sent to it.
We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers. We would disclose it only if the law required us to.

There are no advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site keeps working, except that you'll need to log in again and choose your country.
How long we keep it
- Your account, listings, messages and saved items: until you delete them or the account.
- A listing you mark as sold stays visible as "Sold" so links to it don't break, until you delete it.
- A draft you don't touch for 30 days: its contents and photos are deleted.
- Server logs: a short period, then rotated.
- Aggregated statistics don't identify you and may be kept.
Delete your account and your data
Log in and go to /account/delete/. This deletes, immediately and permanently, your account, your profile, your listings and their photos, your garage, saved searches, alerts and messages. It applies the same way whether you signed up with email or Google.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. Most of it you can see and edit yourself in your account. For anything else, use the account pages above. You can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.
Children
MotorHangar is not meant for children. You must be an adult under the law of your country to create an account or post a car.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll tell account holders by email before it applies.
