1. Make sure you are the registered owner and taxes are paid Recomendado

   Traficom advises buyers to buy only from the owner entered in the register and to check the vehicle's register and tax information, because overdue vehicle tax prohibits use of the vehicle. Have the car in your own name, paid up and commissioned before you sell; using a decommissioned vehicle carries a tax surcharge of at least EUR 1,000.

2. Check the buyer's identity and get their personal identity code Obrigatório por lei

   To file the notification of transfer electronically you need the buyer's Finnish personal identity code or business ID. Check the buyer's identity when you meet.

3. Fill in and sign two copies of the deed of transfer Recomendado Vendedor e comprador

   Print a pre-filled deed of transfer from My e-Services (or use blank form B124e), complete and sign both copies with the buyer, and each keep one in case of disputes.

4. Submit the notification of transfer after the sale Recomendado

   Once the sale is completed (never before), log in to Traficom's My e-Services, select the vehicle and choose 'Seller: Submit a notification of transfer'. Filing it ends your obligations for the vehicle, including vehicle tax and other fees after the sale. If you cannot use e-services, file at an inspection station offering registration services or at your insurance company.

5. Buyer takes out motor liability insurance Obrigatório por lei Comprador

   Before reporting the change of ownership, the buyer must obtain motor vehicle liability insurance for a vehicle in traffic use.

6. Buyer reports the change of ownership within 7 days Obrigatório por lei Comprador

   Within 7 days of the purchase, the buyer logs in to My e-Services, selects the vehicle, chooses 'Buyer: Change vehicle ownership based on a notification of transfer' and pays. Without e-services it can be done at an inspection station offering registration services or at the buyer's insurance company.
