Shift to Park error message when car is already in park and then difficulty getting car to turn off. This is an ongoing issue. I have seen online this is a common problem. This is a safety issue because if the car doesn't turn off the battery will go dead leaving a driver stranded. This issue began soon after the car was out of warranty.
While driving to work last Thursday morning suddenly my 2023 Trailblazer let out a sorta growl and then a dragging noise thankfully I was able to get over and stop on the shoulder only to discover that my tail pipe was dragging from just after the catalytic converter as the bolts apparently sheared off leaving only the head of the bolts intact. Lucky for me I there wasn’t major damage. I did however have to get my vehicle towed and have the bolt heads cut off in order to have the exhaust fixed
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal felt extremely firm and was difficult to depress. The contact stated that his wife needed to anticipate the stopping distance to apply enough force to the brake pedal while stopping the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions, but the technicians continuously stated that there was no failure with the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with an inoperable brake master cylinder. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer with the information; however, the dealer stated that the brake master cylinder replacement was not necessary. The vehicle remained unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Exhaust system Yes Bolts that hold it on , rusted off Could have fallen off while I was driving. Luckily I managed to get to work before it fell off. Yes Inspected by repair shop No warning
The shift assembly is going bad and causing a Shift to Park error that GM is aware of. They have issued a Technical Service Bulletin about this exact part. The error code will cause the battery to run down leaving me stranded. The dealer has inspected the vehichle and ordered the necessary part to replace it. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others but is available to have an inspection done. There were no warning lamps for this other than the Shift to Park error showing on the display when the car has been turned off. These error messages started happening around August 1, 2026.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the wastegate actuator needed to be replaced, and DTC: P0299 was retrieved. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where DTC: P0299 was retrieved, and the contact was informed that the turbo or the wastegate actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic, where it was determined that the turbo and waste gate actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with Manufacturer Recall Number: A222379711. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
When shifting to park, car alerts to “shift to park”
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that, while driving on several occasions with the auto start-stop feature activated, the vehicle appeared to shut down at a complete stop as the infotainment screen and dashboard lights turned off. The vehicle restarted automatically but shuddered during startup. The dashboard lights and the infotainment screen became operable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the thermostat needle went to Hot, and the Check Engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and turned off for approximately 15 minutes. Upon restarting the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the coolant flow control valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,251.
After the car is parked and engine completely turned off, there is a 'Shift to Park' warning and it kept on blinking and wouldn't turn off. It drains the car battery.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH on the interstate , the vehicle independently went into engine power reduce mode. The contact mention she pulled off the interstate, turned the vehicle off for five to ten minutes then turned the vehicle back on and the vehicle began to work as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnsonesd the turbo booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified on the failure, and they informed her there were no recalls at this time. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
The contact owns a 2023 CHEVROLET Trailblazer. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the computer system failed to recognize that the vehicle had been shifted into the park position, causing a "Shift to Park" warning light to illuminate on the instrument cluster. Although the gear selector was physically in park, the contact was unable to fully shut down the vehicle and had to cycle the ignition on and off multiple times until the system eventually recognized the park position. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed to be a transmission control assembly failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,097.
While driving on the highway in light traffic at approximately 70 mph and changing lanes, the side airbags in my vehicle suddenly deployed without warning. There was no collision, no contact with another vehicle, no road debris, and no apparent external cause for deployment. I did not strike anything before, during, or after the deployment. There were no vehicles within several car lengths of my vehicle at the time. Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene. Officer TJ Carter with Guilford County responded. Upon inspection of the vehicle at the scene, we found no evidence of impact or contact with another vehicle, object, or debris. The vehicle was covered in yellow pollen at the time, and even light contact would have left visible marks or disturbance in the pollen. After examining the vehicle, no signs of contact were identified. The vehicle does have unrelated prior body damage from over a year ago on one side, but that damage predates this incident and was not caused by this event. The responding officer can confirm there was no collision or new impact associated with the airbag deployment. There was no accident associated with this airbag deployment. The airbags deployed while I was traveling at highway speed, which caused a sudden and dangerous driving event and required me to quickly maneuver to the side of the roadway. This created a serious safety risk to me and to surrounding traffic. Prior to this incident, there were no warning lights, safety alerts, or service notifications indicating an issue with the airbag system or vehicle safety systems. However, a notification did appear in the My Chevrolet app at or around the time of the incident. The vehicle has not yet been fully inspected following the incident. A safety claim has been submitted to General Motors. I also have video footage of the Highway Patrol Officer cutting down the airbags on-site but cannot add that below so I have added a screenshot.
The bolts holding the exhaust to the catalytic converter broke while I was driving my car. The car could have flipped, the exhaust could have busted through the vehicle, or I could have caused an accident and died. This comes on the heels of the EXACT SAME THING happening to my wife's Chevy Trailblazer with nearly the same mileage as mine. I have 97K miles and she 96K. This is a KNOWN ISSUE to them and it is NOT THE FIRST time this has occurred. There are thousands of similar instances that have occurred and one can easily find the anecdotes through an online search.
The Onstar module has went out on my car and while researching the issue I found out that it is a very common problem with Chevrolet/GM vehicles years 2021-2025 and although Chevrolet and GM are wwll aware that there's an issue and that the onstar modules are faulty there's been no recall. Mind you the module doesn't just affect onstar features it also is connected to bluetooth microphone and remote start and now none of them work at all.
Screen in car goes black.no radio,no noise,no back up camera-Apple car play won’t hook up anymore-I see others models around mine having exactly the same issues I am experiencing-I have reset radio/screen multiple times,it works anywhere from a few mins to hours then it blacks out again and there is nothing on screen.i have replaced the battery, key fine battery’s,and fuse.and I am still experiencing this issues.i have made an appointment at a Chevy dealer to have it diagnosed March 2,2026.that is $169.00 out of my pocket.again I am seeing plenty of other checks around my make and model having the same issues being recalled. My incident started about January 30,2026.
My family and I was I involved in a hit and run accident. My minor child is still suffering from shoulder/rotator cuff injuries. Hewas in the process to start conditioning for football. The seatbelt on the day of the accident did not lock. GM sent a criminal investigator not a trained engineer for the vehicle. The seatbelts needs to be inspected. The motor/transmission is making a ticking sound.
Had p1098 code come up on car at 67000 issue coolant control valve assembly went bad. This a commons issue with trailblazers and other cars similar to it. Bad design cause extremely expensive repair for this component.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the ignition switch was locked and failed to release the key. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the ignition switch had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving at 68 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The message "Shift to Park" was displayed. The contact managed to pull over to the shoulder of the road, where the contact attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it remained for further investigation. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the same local dealer on several occasions. The dealer had previously replaced the battery and the turbo boost. Additionally, the dealer had performed an unknown software update and other unknown repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,962.
Exhaust fell off under normal operating conditions. Dealership (Dekalb Sycamore Chevrolet- Sycamore Illinois) stated this has been a common issue with this year group of Chevrolet Trailblazer SUVs. Dealership stated the bolts/exhaust pipe junction between the catalytic converter and pipe that goes to the muffler rusts through and the entire exhaust system from the cat back falls out of the undercarriage of the vehicle, which is what happened here.
I was in a collision. Traveling a four lane highway during daylight ours with no in-climate weather. The car in front of a line of approximately 4 cars missed their exit and slammed on his breaks to make a right turn from the driving lane. The line of cars in front of me stopped and/or left the roadway to avoid a collision. I was unable to stop in time and had nowhere to go and I rear-ended the car in front of me, which was fully stopped in the lane. According to my dash camera my speed on Impact was approximately 45 mph. No front end collision warning alarms went off. No automatic breaking occurred. No airbag deployed. None of the vehicle safety and anti collision measures performed as I had expected. $10,000 worth of damage to my car alone.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that after shifting into park(P), there was an abnormal beeping sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact shifted into neutral(N) and then back into park(P) to stop the beeping sound. The contact stated that while the vehicle was shut off and in park(P); the gear shifter independently shifted out of park(P) into reverse(R). The vehicle did not move backwards; however, the contact was able to shift back to the park(P) without further failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was provided with the cost for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure, despite multiple attempts for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
1/ while at the stop site, the car suddenly stopped and went black. Stereo turn off and screen went black. 2/ sometime I can’t unlock the car from inside. The lock works but not the unlock button. While backing or stopping there is a high noise that seems like I have a bad brake , took it to the dealership and they said the brake is good but they can’t figure out where the noise coming from. I took the car to the dealership 3 times in 1 month since the problem started and they still can not fix it.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster flickered, and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the radio turned off independently. The contact turned the vehicle off. The contact stated that while restarting the vehicle, the vehicle started. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description; however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,174. The VIN was unavailable.
Coolant Vavle malfunction Engine could overheat Yes Manufacturer No warning lights..check engine light came and I had the car diagnosed
When I shift my vehicle into park and hit the button to shut it off, a "shift to park" message appears on the DIC screen. I then am required to start my vehicle again, shift into gear, and then put it back into park and attempt to shut the vehicle off again. It has taken me up to 15 minutes to be able to get it to recognize that my vehicle is in park and for the message to not pop up. If I get out of the car while the message is still on the DIC screen, I cannot lock my vehicle and it drains the battery. I contacted my local Chevrolet dealer and they are saying that although this is a known issue which has had more than one GM Service Bulletin on this issue which includes my year and model, there is not an actual recall for this, so I have to pay out of pocket, because my bumper to bumper warranty expired at 36,000 miles and I am currently just shy of 39,000 miles. Of note, there is also a class action lawsuit for this exact issue so I am confused as to why a recall would not have been issued, or why it would not still be covered despite the expired bumper to bumper warranty.
Onstar module that is supposed to working in case of a crash or another emergency stopped working back in November 2024. It also is attached to other operations such as the vehicles microphone. I took it to the dealership Chevrolet said they would pay half of the replacement. My vehicle is not the only one. There is a forum online and other GM vehicles are having the same issue.
at around 42,000 miles my Trailblazer displayed a message that engine power had been reduced and the check engine light came on. I took it to my dealer who diagnosed as a problem with the engine turbo fixed it and returned the car to me. I drove for 2 weeks and the same thing happened. I traded it in on an Equinox after the service manager said the turbo was a know issued. I did not want to be driving on the interstate with reduced power. Also I took a financial hit on the trade.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that on several occasions, while the Forward Collision Avoidance: Adaptive Cruise Control was activated, and the brakes were inadvertently activated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and it was determined that three software updates needed to be completed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
I reported my first issue back in late 2024 of the brakes squealing they took my car in and resurface the rotors. It stopped squealing for about a few months and now we are in summer of 2025 and they are squealing again. I took my car to the dealership because they told me that my car would be under warranty for 30,000 miles with the brakes. First started when they told me that the guy that told me I would have a rental car waiting for me did not set me up for a rental car. I live 45 minutes to an hour away from the dealership. When I pulled into the garage, I could hear the squealing of my car. When I went up to the counter the guy told me he couldn’t hear anything. They then tried to tell me that I would have to take my car back home and call back in the morning to talk to the rep I was talking to in the service department as he had already left for the day along with his associate. I was determined that I was not leaving there without a rental car and my car to be looked. I finally went in on my own to find the gentleman who sold me the vehicle who I really do appreciate and have no issues with him(Keith Keys) he’s a very good sales person at Weber Chevrolet. As they were getting me a rental the guy from the service department pulled around with my car and asked me to get in. He then told me that he had fixed the issue by slamming on my brakes a few times and that it was OK for me to take it home. I then let him know that it was staying to be looked at and I was going to take the rental. The next day when I called the service rep, he stated that they were going to replace the front brakes and it would be available the following day to pick up. When I went to go pick up my vehicle and leave the parking lot I didn’t even get out of the parking space and it was still squealing. I went back in and they told me it was normal and I would have to call the service rep the following day I’m still waiting to hear. I have owned many Chevy’s to know breaks don’t do that
The turbo went out on the car for absolutely no reason. Message popped up on dash board saying "Engine power reduced". I have seen this happen to many many many other card across the country. It does not many how many miles are on the car. some Ive seen 25k and some ive seen at 60k. Shouldn't Chevy be recalling and fixing the part? Seems unfair to me as a consumer. Who has thousands of dollars to get that repaired?
My car key keeps getting stuck in the ignition and won’t come out until we unhook the negative on the battery.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local Auto Zone where a diagnostic scanner was used to retrieve DTC: P146D. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the same code was retrieved and confirmed. The contact was informed that the emissions control valve was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced Emission Recall: A222379711; as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle independently activated the brakes while the accelerator pedal was depressed. In addition, the contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn, the steering wheel independently veered towards the right. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the brake master cylinder assembly was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer and was left for further investigation. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
The ABS system in this vehicle flashes warnings at quick restarts and while holding the brake down, it has no “sponge” when this happens. The brakes squeal constantly. I’ve had them inspected at every single maintenance and there can be no flaw found. When driving on the interstate, the engine is very “jerky” almost like the transmission can’t keep up with the speed of 70-80mph (not always, but it is noticeable when it happens). At first I didn’t think much of it but with the mass recall of chevys identified, I believe it needs to go on record - particularly about the brakes.
Engine failure. “Low engine power” mechanic read code as turbo failure.

The sunroof fabric roll came off of the track when attempting to open the sunroof. Yes it is still off the track I have yet to get it fixed due to time restraints. It poses a risk because of the loud noise it makes until you stop the opening of the sunroof. As many individuals open their sunroof while driving it poses a risk of being a major distraction if and when this happens. I have not taken it to get repaired yet but I did report it to the customer service via the my Chevrolet app. It did not give off any warnings or lights prior to the failure .. it was a sudden failure that shocked me when it occurred as I couldn’t figure out how to stop it to begin with
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the backup camera image remained displayed in all gear shifter positions. The contact was concerned that safety warning information and messages were not available for viewing while the failure was present. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 17,938.
